  Khomkrit Treewimol
In The Spotlight: Khomkrit Treewimol

Khomkrit Treewimol was born in 1973, in the Ayudhaya province, Thailand. He graduated from the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University, majoring in Film and Still Photography.

Following the success of the film My Girl (2002), which Khomkrit co-directed with five of his friends, he was inspired to pursue his dream of bringing to life one of his favourite books, which led to his directorial debut in 2005 with Dear Dakanda. The film made it to the Official Selection at the Fukuoka International Film Festival 2006 and picked up the Best Director and Best Picture Awards from Starpic Awards, Thailand.

Khomkrit has worked on several feature films, plays, documentaries, television sit-coms and movies including as assistant director for the horror flick Nang Nak (1998). His film credits include Tears Black Tiger (1999, assistant director), TV documentary Land's Treasure (2000), TV soap opera Koo Gud Huajai Fad Wiang (2001, director), sit-com Oven War (2004, director), and feature film Noo Hin The Movie (2006, director).

This talented young filmmaker's work has garnered various awards including Supannahongsa's Best Director Award (2002) and the Best Director Prize at the 7th Shanghai International Film Festival (2004) for My Girl.

Khomkrit is an ordained monk.
