Much has been documented and written on the Quiapo, a historical and religious landmark in the heart of Old Manila. This gave me an idea of the video, which I wanted to inject a different and hopefully original twist to.
Deciding on the right treatment was tough. The first version I edited had contrasting images cross fading from one scene to another. It was simple and straightforward, but I felt that it’s a bit flat. I needed something that can make an impact, so I decide to make use of a 360 degree shot inside the church as the creative solution. The shot would provide an interesting "hook" between the contrasting scenes of the film.
Since I’ve never done a shot like this before, I was pretty excited to see how well I could pull it off. But first I knew I needed to attach the N90 on something to provide support and achieve a smooth and steady circular motion when filming.
